Jordan rehabilitation programme

International project: Providing specialized trauma treatment services to Iraqi victims of Torture and Organized Violence (TOV) residing in Jordan

Project description:
In Jordan, RCT cooperates with IFH to increase the treatment options available to Iraqi (and other nationalities) victims of torture and organised violence (TOV) and their families. RCT provides training and supervision to IFH staff to support them to function as a specialised treatment centre for the rehabilitation of Iraqi victims of TOV (and others, as appropriate). The IFH staff is trained in specialised and inter-disciplinary rehabilitation service provision. Finally, the project is also committed to increasing knowledge of the consequences and treatment of torture and trauma among the Iraqi groups as well as in the Jordanian society.

Project results

As of December 2010, 150 victims of TOV received rehabilitation services by the IFH trauma centre.

15 employees at IFH have received training in inter-disciplinary torture rehabilitation. And IFH has put focus on its rehabilitation programme by means of local activities, its connections and partnership with different UN agencies and other international organisations.

Furthermore, 2 introductory workshops on the subject of torture rehabililtation for national and international stakeholders in Jordan were organized.
