New South African report on torture

Published 02.02.2012

New monitoring and evaluation report from CSVR.

The South African Centre for Study of Violence and Reconciliation (CSVR) - and RCT partner organization - has recently published the report 'Profiling torture II: Addressing Torture and its Consequences in South Africa'.

The report has been published with the support of RCT and is part of CSVR's comprehensive monitoring and evaluation of the organizations psychosocial services provided to victims of torture and political violence. This report looks at the data obtained from 2009 to 2011 and describes the group of torture clients who received counseling during this period.

CSVR began offering free counseling service to victims of political violence in 1989. From the late 1990s, the CSVR began counseling refugees and asylum seekers from various African countries who had experienced violent conflicts.
